April Snow?

We had to make a trip down to Red Deer on Wednesday, which
is two hours south of Edmonton, south, warmer than the north.
Well at least you'd think so, this is what we found, on the 10th of April.
A little group of school kids heading home for the day, you'd think
it was the middle of January.
Snow on the ground and all bundled up, including boots, snow pants,
mittens, hats and heavy coats.  No sign of Spring here!

Couches

We know for a fact that the church gets great deals for buying
in bulk, and this proves it.
This is the couch in the foyer of the Bearspaw chapel,
and the same one in Grand Prairie,
and Red Deer.  The funny thing is, you will not only find them in
the chapels in Canada, you can find the same exact couch in North Ogden,
Utah.  The coloring is off, but that's just from my camera, exact same couch,
exact same coloring, exact same style.  Too funny!
And in our very own mission office, oh save us from the
 repetitive, unchanging couches.

I didn't even realize we had this same one in the mission
office until just recently, I'm just so used to it.

Conference Snow

Ah, general conference, and the traditional rainy weekend, well . . .
not in Canada, no we can't have rain, we get to have SNOW!
That's right, this is what we woke up to, this fine day.
And not just a little bit, it was quite a dump of the white stuff.
Will Spring ever arrive?  Doesn't look like it today!
On the positive side, we don't have to worry about mowing the lawn.

Decorating Eggs

We're a little slow, but hey, better late than never right?
We had the girls decorate eggs weeks ago, while they were here
for a visit.  And then things got a little crazy last week, when it was
the real Easter weekend, so we decided to do it anyway, just for fun.
We need the eggs to make deviled eggs for our Easter picnic tomorrow,
that's a week late too.
I dissolved the die, but only four of the six colors.
The others just weren't that vivid.
Look what came with them, cute little kitten and puppy stickers.
I started with orange,
then green.
We weren't very clever or creative.
But they were still pretty,
I am always fascinated with the wonderful colors.
So pretty.
We got a little artistic, but not really.
I truly love the holidays, and it will be even better when we're home
to celebrate and have fun with family.

Friends At Conference

Look what I saw on Facebook tonight!
While perusing on Facebook, I saw this awesome sight.
A few of our wonderful returned missionaries met up today at General
Conference.  It is so great to see this many of them gathered together.
Makes a mama proud.
Let's see how well I do with remembering names, something I worry about.
from left:  Elder Hendrycks, Elder Wan, Elder Fehr, Sister Westover (she's
only been home for a week), Sister Kuroki, Sister White, Sister Coltrin,
Elder Black, Sister Reese and Elder Albright.  They've come from all
over the world, Hong Kong, Japan, Florida, Arizona, Idaho and Nevada.
Pretty amazing!   I can't wait to join them next year.

Pink Bunny Running Man

I had to get a picture of the "bunny" running man!
Doesn't he look cute,
or actually, kind of creepy.  He's dressed in this awful bunny suit
and has this strange bunny mask.  This makes at least 7 different
outfits that I've seen him in.  Got a picture of most of them.
Too funny!

Just so you know, this is pink bunny running man,
a mere two weeks earlier.  His ears are a little more perky,
but he finds it difficult running in the snow.

Finnish Visitor

We got a call from one of our former elders today, he's a long way
from home.  He lives in Finland and is on his way to Utah for
general conference, by way of Edmonton.
We met him at Five Guys in Sherwood Park and bought him lunch.
He's pursuing his music and doing quite well.  We've actually heard a few
of his songs on Facebook.  He's very talented.  He has a long way to
go, but he's on his way.  We hope to someday say, "I knew him when".
